AEC Unity Network Limited has expressed unwavering confidence that the groundbreaking work on its ambitious 470-kilometre Abuja-Lagos Superhighway will soon launch, a transformative venture anticipated to significantly shorten travel time between Nigeria’s two most bustling metropolises.

In a discussion with reporters in Lagos on Tuesday, the company’s esteemed Chairman, Dr. Kenny Martins, characterized the $4 billion project as a monumental initiative that promises a safer, swifter, and more dependable alternative to the existing road systems.

He elaborated that the highway is meticulously designed to accommodate vehicles traveling at speeds of up to 80 kilometres per hour, hence drastically minimizing the hours spent navigating the terrain.

“This transcends the definition of a typical road. The Abuja-Lagos Superhighway will emerge as a revolutionary infrastructure endeavor that redefines the movement of people and goods between the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos.

“It will also enhance access to rural areas, generate employment opportunities, and unleash fresh economic prospects across the states it traverses,” asserted Martins.

The superhighway will span across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, and the FCT, with additional branches extending to Ondo State and Baro Port in Niger State, a strategic initiative projected to invigorate regional trade and logistics.

Dr. Martins emphasized that, once operational, the route would alleviate congestion on current corridors while reducing the costs and pressures of transporting commuters and freight between Abuja and Lagos.

He added that the project is being executed in partnership with the Federal Executive Council (FEC), the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), and the Federal Ministry of Works, under the vigilant oversight of Minister Dave Umahi.

“This road is a legacy, not merely for today but for future generations. By the grace of God, it won’t be long before Nigerians traverse this extraordinary superhighway,” he assured.
