The Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has disclosed the intention of returning locomotives that broke down on Abuja-Kaduna rail rto China.
Making this known during an inspection in Lagos Amaechi lamented that “it is worrisome that these locomotives that are brand new are failing.”
According to him, the locomotives have a warranty of for over four years; thus they have no other choice other than to return them to China.
The Minister said that it doesn’t make any economic sense to be repairing the locomotives since their warranty is still valid.
“This will affect the number of times the train will now run on the route,” the Minister stated.
Recall that train passengers along Abuja-Kaduna rail line were standard on November 20 when the train suddenly stopped working due to faulty locomotives.
It will be recalled that on November 20, the Abuja-Kaduna train stopped in the middle of the journey rendering passengers stranded.
