The Federal Government has dedicated over ₦89.2 billion to enhance infrastructure and educational facilities in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over the past year.

This investment encompasses significant road construction initiatives and the refurbishment of essential schools in the region.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike announced these updates, noting that ₦7 billion was allocated for the construction of the five-kilometer Gaba–Tokulo Road, ₦27 billion was used for the rehabilitation of the Dutse to Bwari Road, and ₦28 billion was invested in the dualization of the Ushafa to War College Road. Wike mentioned that the Gaba–Tokulo road project was launched in response to community requests.

“The residents of Bwari asked for this road, and by the grace of God, we awarded the contract in January 2024. Today, we are celebrating the inauguration of the completed project,” Wike remarked.

He further highlighted that the current administration has made road infrastructure a top priority across the region.

“Since Monday, we have been launching various road projects, and this initiative will wrap up tomorrow. In 2024, following President Tinubu’s guidance, we pledged to build one road in each area council, ensuring that every council benefits from the administration’s development initiatives,” he stated.

The minister also highlighted that the government is improving security in the region, with two new police divisional offices currently being constructed and expected to be completed by May.

Looking ahead, the FCT Administration has earmarked funds in the 2025 budget for additional road projects in each area council. The Gaba–Tokulo Road is also planned to be extended to Kawu, a border community adjacent to Kaduna State, with streetlights to be installed along the route.

Bwari Area Council Chairman, Mr. John Gabaya, expressed his appreciation for the significant developments, noting that rural communities are experiencing unprecedented progress.

Gabaya urged for further extensions of the road projects.
