FG embarks on data capturing of transporters nationwide to curb criminal activities

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Transportation has begun the process of data capturing for commercial transporters nationwide.

The initiative, it was gathered was a collaborative effort between the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking  at a  press briefing in Abuja, President Almagamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairers and Riders Association (AKOMORAN) Babangida Maihula, said the Federal Government had started capturing the data of the association’s members as well as those in other arms of the transportation sector.

He disclosed that a Standing Committee which comprises stakeholders in the transportation sector, including government had already been set up to monitor and ensure the success of the exercise.

In his words: “This programme is going to capture and address the many concerns of commuters and operators in the land transportation sector, especially as it relates to security and curbing criminal activities on our roads.”

Describing the exercise as a holistic one, he said that they were meeting their members to expatiate on the gains of the initiative.
