
The people of Aran-Orin in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, have commended the Council Chairman, Muyiwa Oladipo, for his road intervention scheme aimed at boosting development in the area.
A community leader, John Olawuyi, who spoke with journalists on the side-lines of the grading of Aran-Orin/Olowonijere roads, described the initiative as unprecedented in the history of the community.
It was reported that the council’s officials, led by the chairman, were in the community, on Monday, to assess the extent of work on the grading of the roads.
He said the grading of the roads, apart from ensuring smooth vehicular and human movement, would also assist in the movement of goods, especially agricultural products.
Olawuyi said the roads, which serve as a major link to other neighbouring communities, was very vital in boosting commercial activities of the people of the area.
According to him, the deplorable state of the roads, over a long period, has been a source of concern to the people.
“We would forever be grateful and supportive to the council’s boss and his entire team for this great honour,’’ he said.
On his part, Adeoti Olufemi, the Principal of Ofe-Aran Commercial College, Omu-Aran, described the grading of the road leading to the school as “a life-time achievement for the students and management.’’
Olufemi expressed the school’s gratitude to the council over the gesture, saying that the grading of the road would not only ensure efficiency on the part of the management, but also improve the students’ overall performance.
