A report has shown that Nigeria’s electricity sector lost more than N540 billion due to myriad of challenges that bedevilled its operations in 2017.
It added that the loss was a major cog in the wheel of the sector’s progress, making it difficult for the operators to supply the required power to consumers.
The report released by the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry Statistics (NESI), stated that the sector lost more than N1.5 billion daily to gas, water and transmission lines.
The NESI report disclosed that the sector generated 99,000 mega watt/hour (MWh/day), but lost about 59,424 MWh per day to the constraints, adding that the trend had lingered for several years.
