The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the successful restoration of bulk electricity supply to six states in Northeast Nigeria. TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah shared this update in a statement on Sunday.
The restoration follows the completion of the connection of the new Bauchi 330/132 kV Transmission Substation to the national grid via the 330 kV and 132 kV Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Transmission Line.
“The lines were temporarily shut down to allow TCN to energize the new Bauchi Substation, one of the largest in the region,” Mbah explained. “The transmission lines have now been reconnected to the grid, and power supply to the northeast has been restored since June 19 at approximately 16:45 hours.”
With the project now complete, bulk power transmission has resumed to the Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution Companies, which serve customers in Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Damaturu, Adamawa, and Taraba States.
“This connection to the national grid has improved power reliability, diversified transmission routes, and enhanced emergency response capabilities in the Northeastern region,” TCN stated.
The region had been without electricity since June 10, 2025.
