Arc Ahmed Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to resolving Nigeria’s housing shortage through the implementation of robust reforms in the housing and urban development sector.
During a meeting with a team from LEADERSHIP Newspaper, Dangiwa announced that the federal government plans to broaden the scope of the Renewed Hope Housing agenda, aiming to establish housing estates in all 774 local government areas.
“Under the Renewed Hope Cities initiative, we are constructing residential buildings in each geopolitical zone and the Federal Capital Territory, creating cities that feature blocks of flats, terraces, and duplexes,” he explained.
“We are also developing the Renewed Hope Estates for the remaining 30 states, with plans to build 250 housing units in each state. Currently, projects are underway in 12 states, with some nearing completion and ready for commissioning,” he added.
Dangiwa announced that the federal government aims to establish a minimum of 100 housing units in each of the 774 local government areas. He highlighted that funding is being secured for the Renewed Social Housing initiative in these areas, resulting in a total of 77,400 housing units.
He reaffirmed his ministry’s dedication to tackling housing shortages and promoting urban development nationwide, in alignment with President Tinubu’s vision, while also seeking the support of LEADERSHIP.
“Our mission extends beyond merely constructing houses; it encompasses the creation of inclusive, resilient, and livable cities and communities. We recognize that achieving this objective necessitates collaboration with all stakeholders, particularly the media.
“We are looking for a partnership that will enhance the visibility of our efforts across all LEADERSHIP platforms. Your outlets are among the most influential in the country, and we aim to amplify our message and accomplishments through LEADERSHIP,” he stated.
