The management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that it had proffered a solution to the black out in some parts of Kano caused by inferno that affected a 60-MVA transformer.

The TCN described the fire incident that affected the strategic transformer at Dan Agundi as unfortunate, adding that it had collaborated with Kano Electricity Distribution Company Limited to ameliorate the situation.

According toTCN’s report, there was a transfer of the loads of the affected areas to Dakata sub-station and the balance to the unaffected 60MVA Transformer at Dan Agundi Sub-station to manage the situation and restore power.

Taking proactive measure, the TCN said it had also inaugurated a committee to review protection systems of the company’s installations across the country as a means of preventing such ugly incidents in the future.

It also revealed that a contractor had been saddled with the task of installation of the third 60MVA transformer at the sub-station to increase the transformer’s capacity.

According to the General Manager (Public Affairs), Ndidi Mbah, the TCN is collaborating with the Kano State Government to remove some illegal structures under the Kumbotso-Dan Agundi132kV line Right of Way (ROW).

She added that once the illegal structures under ROW were cleared, the Kumbotso-Dan Agundi 132kV line would be re-conductored to increase the capacity of the line to boost power supply.
