
The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) on Friday conducted a tender and financial bid for the 2018 capital projects.
Prof. Ahmed Ahidjo, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, who presided over the tender document opening process, assured that the exercise was in line with the requirements of the Public Procurement Act.
Ahidjo said that the management of the hospital had advertised the tender in major national dailies to facilitate execution of about 10 projects approved for the 2018 fiscal year.
He explained that effective measures had been evolved to ensure strict adherence to due process and transparency in the process.
Ahidjo disclosed that tender documents would be forwarded to the Technical Committee for evaluation at the end of the exercise.
The CMD however explained that tender document for project Lot 7, was postponed to Jan. 15, to facilitate possible review and modifications.
He commended the contractors, observers and other stakeholders for the orderly manner in the conduct
of the exercise.
Some of the projects include construction of a trauma centre, hostel and drilling of borehole as well as provision of power generators, drugs and medical equipment.
The exercise was attended by various contracting firms, representatives of human right groups, media, legal firms and Civil Society Organisations.
