The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission has revealed its plan to embark on more result-oriented policies that would prop up the water sector to make it more functional and efficient.

Its Executive Director, Rufai Aliyu, said this, while delivering a keynote address, during the commission’s retreat for its workers, on Thursday, in Kaduna.

According to him, the management retreat was designed to strengthen the delivery of the commission’s mandate, so that it would be more efficient.

Rufai stressed that the retreat was also to develop a road map for effective and holistic water resource development and regulations, in line with the agenda of the present administration.

The executive director said the commission would seek to bond management to harness the skills necessary for effective implementation of the water regulation, in line with international best practices.

In his opening address, the commission’s Director, Corporate Support Services, Lawal Moroof, said the retreat would foster and strengthen team spirit and bonding among executives, noting that it would afford them the opportunity to take stock of progress made, so far, and strategise for the present and future.

‘‘I hope that the retreat will provide a platform for honest, sincere deliberations and contribution to engender mutual trust, peaceful co-existence and co-operation among members of staff.’’

Moroof stated that there could not be any meaningful progress, if decision makers do not come in neutrality on issues.
